Unique design from Ella Jenkins

Hare on a Prayer Chair

Antique prie dieu – fully refurbished and reupholstered.

Whimsical design with hare gazing up at a full moon.

£425.00 VAT included (where applicable)

Materials: Velvet, silk, silver leaves.

Overall height: 35 Inches; Overall width: 17 Inches; Overall depth: 18 Inches;

This lovely prie dieu or prayer chair dates from 1921. The 6th October to be precise. I know this as it has the makers stamp on the front of the frame (see photo below). It comes from Arras in France and obviously has been a loved and well used piece of furniture in the past.

The frame has been completely refurbished and re-upholstered by myself using traditional methods.

I love to blend art with upholstery and have added a simple but stunning embroidered design of a full moon, tree and a hare gazing up at the moon. Small silver leaf charms have been used for the leaves of the tree, each one carefully and securely hand sewn into place.

I have used a luxurious, navy blue velvet to cover the chair with a white velvet for the moon and hair.

This is now a chair to be treasured forever. An eye catching statement chair for someone who loves beautiful furniture.

FREE delivery within a 25 mile radius of NG33 4RA. Or alternatively you can collect the chair from my workshop which is near Stamford, Lincs.

Steam train chair - Ella Jenkins Designs

Mid Century Parker Knoll Armchair with Steam Train Design

The perfect chair for all steam train enthusiasts.

£895.00 VAT included (where applicable).

Materials: British wool, velvets, linen.

Overall height: 33 Inches; Overall width: 24 Inches; Overall depth: 28 Inches;

This lovely vintage Parker Knoll arm chair has been completely refurbished and re-upholstered using traditional methods.

The overall size and shape of the chair suggests it would be very comfortable for a gentleman perhaps to sit and and read the paper, or a book on steam trains?

I take a lot my inspiration from the local landscape. I live in Little Bytham, where the East Coast main line railway cuts through the village over viaducts.

It’s also where the Mallard locomotive made it’s 126 mph record breaking run on the 3rd July 1938 and in 1933 the Flying Scotsman achieved 120 mph just south of the village.

Inspired by the above, this is my interpretation of the Flying Scotsman travelling over a nearby viaduct.

Textile techniques including applique, patchwork, machine and hand embroidery have resulted in a truly unique chair. This is a one off design. It is also a chair that is to be treasured forever.

The main fabric is a terracotta/brick coloured, extremely hard wearing 100% British wool from Moons.

The frame has been sanded down, cleaned up and returned to it’s lovely natural patina with the use of hemp oil. I love the darkened groves to the front edges of the chair. They remind me of railway tracks.

I offer a FREE Delivery service within a 25 mile radius of the post code NG33 4RA.

Alternatively you can also collect from my workshop which is near to Stamford in Lincolnshire.

Mix and match fabrics on an upholstered vintage tub chair

Duck Egg Blue Bedroom Chair. Vintage Tub Chair

Trio of stunning fabrics makes an eye catching statement chair

£250.00 VAT included (where applicable

Materials: Velvet, silk satin, embroidered linen

Overall height: 31 Inches; Overall width: 23 Inches; Overall depth: 20 Inches;

I love to mix up different fabrics, colours and textures. This lovely vintage tub chair has a stunning combination of grey velvet, a luxurious silk/satin (my old wedding dress – well I am never going to wear it again) and a gorgeous embroidered linen featuring pussy willows.

All three fabrics complement each other to give a feel of luxury – designed to add a touch of glamour to your boudoir.

The chair has been entirely refurbished and re-upholstered by myself using traditional methods. I have painted the woodwork with a very pale grey paint and finished with a durable wax coat.

This chair is unusually dainty for a tub chair. It is the perfect size for the corner of a bedroom and has a very comfortable seat.

Like all my designs this one is totally unique – there will never be another one like it and I have no doubt it will soon be snapped up very soon by someone who likes quality furniture that is just that is different to what you can find on the High Street.

I can deliver FREE within a 25 mile radius of NG33 4RA. Or alternatively you can collect the chair from my workshop which is near Stamford, Lincs

Nautical theme from Ella Jenkins Designs

Four Antique French Dining/Bedroom Chairs

Refurbished and Reupholstered. Seaside/Nautical Inspired Design.

£275.00 VAT included (where applicable)

Materials: Laura Ashley fabric, Velvet, Linen, Dimensions

Overall height: 32.5 Inches; Overall width: 15.5 Inches; Overall depth: 15 Inches

Four classic and timelessly beautiful, antique French dining room chairs fully restored & reupholstered.

I started by cleaning up the woodwork to reveal the natural beauty of the wood. Next they were re-upholstered using traditional methods.

Featuring a crisp, fresh stripe from Laura Ashley. I have added a seaside motif to make each chair individual, but with a nautical theme for the set.

I think they still look antique, but with a contemporary twist.

The Honest Facts:

These chairs are lovely, but they are quite dainty in size and design. I would NOT recommend them for heavy, every day use. They will be fine as occasionally used dining room chairs or a bedroom chair to sit on to put your socks on.

There is a bracket missing from one chair in the top corner

Not to be sold separately! These chairs have been together for over a hundred years and I am not splitting them up now.

Delivery: You can collect from my workshop (NG33 4RA).

I am happy to offer FREE local delivery – within a 25 mile radius of the above Post Code
