Description
A stunning American chaise or day bed dating from 1906 and originating from North Carolina (according to the label on the inside frame). This style of furniture was very popular around that time when there was a renaissance of the plantation look. Think Gone with the Wind!
The chaise has been fully restored and upholstered by myself. The woodwork has been carefully cleaned up using my Dad’s secret recipe – he was a French polisher and furniture restorer. I am unsure as to what wood the frame is made from, but it has a charming and unusual mottled look to it.
Sometimes you just have to let the fabric be the star of the show! I have loved this fabric for a long, long time it is by Nottingham based designer Tatie Lou. I was so excited to finally work on a piece that would do it justice. It is a luxurious forest green velvet with colourful flying cranes. You will find gold, orange, teal and ivory accents in the design.
The chaise comes with a pillow sized, feather filled cushion with teal tassels and a plain dark green velvet back. Plus two smaller dark green velvet piped with the crane fabric.
The result is a truly stunning original piece of furniture. This is a unique one off design never to be repeated. It will certainly make a statement in your home.
