This bench seat/stool was in a sorry state when I picked it up – it was originally a sisal seat but it was badly damaged and filthy dirty, it even had a saggy bottom! But the rustic shape and style called to me and I decided this ugly duckling could be a useful piece of furniture with a bit of TLC.
Inspired by a trip to Norfolk, I painted the legs in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Pigeon’ and then gently distressed the paintwork to give it an aged drift wood look.
I have completely re-upholstered the seat.
Using a combination of applique, hand and machine embroidery to create a beach scene with two oyster catchers paddling close to the sea shore on a beautiful summers day.
This is a unique piece of furniture. Perfect for a seaside/coastal inspired room.
