Description
A pair of good quality Hepplewhite style dining chairs originally from a rather posh London hotel that have been fully refurbished and reupholstered by myself. The woodwork has been cleaned using my Dad’s secret recipe (he was a French Polisher). They have a good sized and very comfortable seat with a solid, robust frame.
I love to combine my traditional upholstery and textile art skills to create unique pieces of furniture. I have used a gorgeous textured black with gold chenille fabric to form the back drop to my design depicting two midnight country scenes.
Chair 1 has a wily old fox staring through a barbed wire fence towards the village on the hill under a moonlight sky.
Chair 2 has three hares running along a barbed wire fence with an owl flying.
The designs are more or less a mirror image of each other and so they sit well next to each other but look just as good on their own.
I would describe these original designs as ‘chair art’. They are totally unique and lovingly hand crafted created using a mixture of applique, machine and hand embroidery. I have included some photos of work in progress on the chairs to give you a feel of how I work.
Antique in style, but the fabric makes them an option for a contemporary setting. Perfect for a hallway or a dining room.
