Description
This lovely antique Victorian chair has been fully refurbished and re-upholstered by myself using traditional methods and materials. Every chair has a tale to tell and on stripping off the old fabric, I found a label stuck to the frame. Apparently this chair was once the property of South Eastern Railways and was used on the London Bridge to Guildford line. A fascinating snippet of history.
I love to upcycle old tired furniture into something beautiful and unique that will be treasured and used for many more years to come. On this particular piece I have collaborated with the very talented artist Georgia Cox (https://www.georgiacox.com) and have used one of her original paintings which has been digitally printed onto a luxurious velvet fabric and then upholstered on to the chair.
The result is totally original – not only do you get a lovely a chair but also a piece of art! I call it chair art.
The seat and back are covered in a matching peacock green fabric from Romo fabrics which is a hard wearing linen cotton mix (also washable).
The chair frame is in excellent condition and retains the original castors. The woodwork has been carefully cleaned to reveal it’s natural patina.
