A stunning Georgian settle that has been fully restored and upholstered using traditional methods.
The lovely oak woodwork has been carefully cleaned up using my Dad’s secret recipe – he was a French polisher and furniture restorer. The settle still has the original castors.
I love to combine my textile art with my upholstery skills to create utterly unique pieces of furniture and I am extremely proud of this lovely piece. I have used a combination of applique, machine and hand embroidery to create original designs, each panel representing one of the four seasons.
Spring is depicted with appliqued, grey velvet boxing hares. Summer features swirling swallows and a burst of summer meadow flowers. Autumn has swirling leaves on a blustery day. Finally Winter – a snow fox wanders through a snowy landscape.
The fabric is a denim or navy coloured linen mix fabric. It is also fire retardant and extremely hard wearing. A practical consideration should the settle be used as a hallway bench for you to sit on whilst taking your boots off.
If you are worried about using it as a piece of furniture as it is just too gorgeous to sit on, then don’t be! All my furniture is designed to be used as well as admired.
