I will admit to having a bit of a ‘thing’ about footstools. For a long time they have been considered a bit old fashioned – something your Grandma used to have in her front room. But I love them; they come in all shapes, sizes and styles. From chunky legged to elegant cabriole legs, Victorian to vintage and everything in between. I often find myself putting aside special off cuts of fabric for a footstool project.
A footstool or a bench seat can add something to a room. They can make the room look so cosy and add a touch of colour to your décor. Plus they are also exceptionally practical - not just for putting your feet up when you are watching the TV, they can double up as coffee/side tables, provide extra seating when you have visitors – simply tuck them back in the corner after they have gone. My cats love footstools too; they have one each in front of the log burner!
